CRWN works on all children's rights issues,

CRWN works to uphold all children’s rights, but we focus especially on issues that are emerging, overlooked or neglected within mainstream human rights work.
This sometimes means confronting the status quo — and being labelled controversial or radical in the process. We make no apology for that. We will not shy away from the challenges that must be addressed to protect children’s rights everywhere.
Below is an overview of the key issues we are currently working on. For a comprehensive list, please see our A–Z index of children’s rights topics.
Access to Justice
Access to justice is not only a fundamental human right — it is the gateway through which all other rights become meaningful and enforceable. Yet children’s access to justice is too often ignored or denied, despite its equal importance for children and adults alike.

Age Assessment
Every child is entitled to the same rights under international law. Yet in many places, these rights are withheld simply because a child cannot prove they are under 18 — a clear failure of age assessment processes that must be addressed.
Assisted Reproduction
Assisted reproductive technologies continue to evolve rapidly, but States often lag behind when it comes to grappling with the complex ethical and legal implications — particularly the rights and welfare of children born through these methods.

Bodily Autonomy
Everyone has the right to bodily autonomy and self-determination — no one else should have control over another’s body. Yet children’s right to bodily integrity is frequently overlooked, leaving them especially vulnerable to harm and exploitation.
Children’s Rights and Democracy
Children make up nearly a third of the global population, yet they are systematically excluded from democratic processes — despite their right to be heard on the decisions that shape their lives and futures.

Children’s Rights in the Digital Age
Children are among the most active users of the internet, yet they are often excluded from shaping the rules that govern their digital lives. Too often, blanket restrictions are imposed without their input — and without meaningful avenues to challenge them.
Civil and Political Rights
International law guarantees civil and political rights to everyone, including children. Yet children are frequently denied these rights — from freedom of expression to peaceful assembly and privacy — with little justification.

Counter-Terrorism
Over the last two decades, States have dramatically expanded counter-terrorism measures. Although these policies are not aimed at children, they often have significant, harmful impacts on children’s lives and rights
Deprivation of Liberty
Around the world, children are detained in prisons, immigration centres, institutions, drug treatment facilities and psychiatric units. No matter the justification, depriving children of their liberty disrupts their education, threatens their future and exposes them to abuse.

Environment
Environmental crises — from climate change to pollution and ecosystem destruction — harm everyone but disproportionately affect children. Yet children’s specific vulnerabilities are frequently ignored and they are left out of environmental decision-making.
Military Enlistment
International law prohibits sending children under 18 into armed conflict. Yet some States — including powerful, wealthy nations — still recruit children into their armed forces for training, placing their rights and well-being at serious risk.

Sexual Violence
At least one in five children worldwide experiences sexual violence — often by someone they know and trust. This is one of the gravest violations of children’s rights. It will not end until the root causes and enabling structures are dismantled.
Toxics
Children are exposed every day to hazardous chemicals — through air, water, food and everyday products. Shockingly, only a tiny fraction of industrial chemicals are properly regulated worldwide. Children’s small bodies, developing systems and behaviours make them particularly vulnerable.
